THE  POSITION:    

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, support, and execute events across all National Community Tennis departments including, but not limited to, National Junior, National Adult, and National Wheelchair tennis.  In addition, a key pillar of this role will be to implement efficiencies and new strategies into national events aimed at improving player experience and streamlining educational opportunities for tournament directors, parents, and players.


Overview

Work in cooperation with the Senior Manager of National Events to support  the USTA’s overall vision and strategy for the continued growth of national events and recreational competition in the United States. Proof of Covid vaccination required


Responsibilities:

  • Work cross functionally to assist in the planning, execution, and support of Community Tennis national events where necessary 
  • Liaise within Recreational Competition across programs (adult, junior, collegiate, wheelchair) on national event strategies, calendars and scheduling
  • Contribute to national events strategy to elevate national events across the country, developing best practices that will continue improving player experiences and delivery practices across USTA national events in areas such as:
  • Tournament director engagement
  • Tournament planning & operations
  • Communication strategies (pre-event, during event, and post-event)
  • Player experience & engagement
  • Staffing models & volunteer support
  • Liaise within Recreational Competition across digital projects that support the national events strategy, such as
  • Data reports from national events, utilizing Tableau
  • Survey responses analyzing feedback and forming reports
  • Schedules & calendars of all Recreational Competition products
  • Website building and maintenance 
  • Facility database to recommend tournament sites and locations
  • Liaise with the National Campus team (national events strategy, calendar building, engagement, other planning where appropriate)
  • Assume a leadership role in select national events (planning & execution) 
  • Collaborate with USTA volunteers, sections, internal and external stakeholders where necessary for national events 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of National Events


Qualifications:

  • Computer Skills – Google Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs as needed
  • Collaborates and communicates well with others
  • Carries a positive, team mindset, on a daily basis 
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Displays strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Displays close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness 
  • Organized
  • Project management - ability to oversee multiple projects (and events) at once 
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and appreciation of game of tennis preferred
  • Must be available to work overtime occasionally (including weekends)
  • As a condition of employment, all USTA employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Individual requests for medical or religious exemptions to the immunization mandate will be considered by USTA and must be submitted to Human Resources.
  • This position is office specific and is designated as "hybrid/flex" and may allow for both remote and on-site work.

THE  POSITION:    

The primary purpose of this position is to provide necessary support for the USTA League program, Adult Tournaments, Tennis on Campus, and Social Play.  Critical aspects of this support includes, but is not limited to, USTA League National Championships, Team USA International Masters Teams, NTRP National Championships, Serve Tennis, and Adult Tournament Director Support.


Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to perform selected project work and support the USTA Adult Competition Department. Proof of covid vaccination required.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of special projects and meetings including, but not limited to, preparation for USTA Annual Meeting, Section Staff Meetings and Conference Calls, and Committee and Subcommittee Meetings and Conference Calls.
  • Coordinate USTA League Medical Appeals, USTA League Grievance Point Penalty Tracker, and Adult Tournament Suspensions
  • Assist with various administrative tasks for the USTA League National Championships.
  • Provide Section League Coordinator support including supply orders & spreadsheet maintenance, Penn ball orders, Regulation and NTRP orders; warehouse inventory; response letters and e-mails to league players
  • Assist with USTA League aspects of the TennisLink system, including, but not limited to, monthly and year-end participation reports and League User Interface. Provide customer service for NTRP and TennisLink as needed.
  • Assist with USTA Adult Tournament aspects of the Serve Tennis system, including participation reports, sanctioning of tournaments, providing service to Section staff and Tournament Directors as needed
  • Assist with all administrative functions of Team USA International Team Selection Process
  • Coordinate all aspects of Tennis on Campus National Championships
  • Assist with survey development, collection and distribution of results.
  • Serve as the on-site national rep as required for USTA League Nationals Championships, Tennis on Campus National Championships, and NTRP National Championships; Work with staff to coordinate championship preparation and set-up; national bill review including staff and volunteer expense reports, hotel bills, honorariums and payments to vendors. Set up and maintain staff rooming lists.
  • Support the USTA League, Adult Competition, Tennis on Campus, and Social Play Committees as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of presentations; answer and screen phone calls; open, sort and distribute mail; respond to routine requests; coordinate weekly attendance; create and maintain filing systems. Routes bills for signatures and final delivery to finance; coordinate shipments for Adult Competition Department
  • Assist department Managers and Director with expenses, travel and meeting arrangements as required.
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications

  • Prior administrative assistance experience.
  • Excellent MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Team player
  • Tennis experience a plus
  • Flexible and patient
  • Extremely strong detail orientation and accuracy required
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • This position is designated as "hybrid/flex" .
  • Must be available to work overtime occasionally.
