National Sales Manager - Basketball Team Apparel

This progressive team apparel company is the brand for the next generation of basketball.  Founded in 2010, we are motivated by a love of the game and the apparel we design is focused exclusively on the needs of ballplayers.  That exclusive focus led to the development of patented textile technology designed to absorb moisture where ballplayers need it most…like a towel built right into the garment!

With growth of almost 200% over the past two years, the company has carved out a niche in the basketball landscape.  To continue fueling that growth, we’re looking to add a highly organized “grinder” with sales management experience to lead and help grow our team.

The National Sales Manager (aka our Power Forward) has to put up 20/10 every night if we want a chance to win.  They will be primarily responsible for 1) team uniform sales and customer service, including management of our existing team sales staff and building out a national sales rep force, and; 2) key account management of larger customers and partnerships, including oversight of our roster of NBA team clients.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • New business development for the company's team uniform program, selling branded team uniforms to basketball organizations nationwide. (e.g. AAU/travel clubs, schools, facilities, rec leagues, etc.)  Includes all aspects of the sales cycle from prospecting and lead generation, sales funnel/relationship management to deal closing, order fulfillment and customer service.
  • Management of inside and outside sales representatives using CRM software tools, ensuring they meet and exceed established individual and departmental goals.

  • Management oversight and business development of key accounts, including partnerships grassroots event operators, targeted wholesale accounts, international distributors and NBA team partners.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • LOVE BASKETBALL – you’ll be around the game 24/7 working with coaches, trainers, parents and players.  It’s OK if the shine on your jumper has faded a bit, but you need to have an understanding of the game and what motivates ballplayers and coaches on & off the court.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in a sales focused role with management oversight and responsibilities required.
  • Experience with team uniform and/or apparel sales preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, dedicated to persistent follow-through and comfortable with budget management principles.

  • Willing to travel on occasion (1-3x per month typically during March-July) as part of your job responsibilities.
  • Ideal candidate will have a strong network of coaches, programs, and facilities within the youth basketball space.
  • Be. Do. Say. 1) BE truthful and honest in everything we do. Inauthentic half-effort will always be exposed. 2) Don’t say you’ll do something, DO something. Action speaks louder than words. 3) SAY. After we walk the walk, we can talk the talk.
  • Basketball is a contact sport. Have strong opinions and be prepared to battle for what you believe in. Devil’s advocates and internal conflict make us better, so if you’re not comfortable defending your viewpoints, this may not be the place for you.
